In Panama, December is a month that most people do a lot of celebrations, as well as in the rest of the world, celebrating Christmas, which should be celebrating the birth of our Savior, but also this date, others are added to the calendar of festivals, such as Teacher’s Day, Mother’s Day and the New Year, for that this ministry is involved in many activities having a significant Christian presence in public schools. This is a great opportunity for proclaiming Christ through our witness and action.

Under the coordination of Dayra Ruiz and the organization of Lieutenant Gantes, the ministry had the opportunity to spend a pleasant day of training with police officers.

Professor Dayra Ruiz was responsible for training for a week and Project Joel participated one of those days. First, we developed a devotional and all participants were very joyful. Then the topic: “Management and control of anger” which was interactive and enriched with the participation of those who shared their experiences. Puppets “Memo and his friends” stimulated the activity and discussed the issue from a deep Christian perspective. For Lieutenant Gantes, organizer of the event, commented that this type of events should be for all the officers of the police and showed a genuine appreciation for the support of the ministry in this opportunity and the rest of programs developed to the police.

As a way of monitoring the work done, during the school year, at Jesús en losPobresSchoolin the community of Loma Coba, the ministry center coordinated with the teacher Griselda Aguilar, in charge of the Sunday school in Dios esGrandeLutheranChurch, the Christmas program for this year. Early on, the church was full of kids, all very active in classes. Project Joel developed dynamics and songs, all a party on Christian values, to share with these children the true message of Christmas: Jesus.

We shared food, candies, cake and gifts, sent by various donors that were made part of this “Red Boots Tour.”  THANK YOU to all of them, because through their support, this event has become a tremendous opportunity for children to share the Christian faith through education and training.

Children in the community El Barrigon in the Province of Veraguas received with enthusiasm and joy the 2011 Red Boots Christmas Tour.

God has been good opening doors and paths to reach hundreds of people who have received guidance, reflection and support through printed and audiovisual materials, presentations, lectures, seminars, counseling, performances, studies and drama.

video 1: Declared bankrupt banana plantations for 10 years, where extreme poverty and poor situation are predominant in the area … there in that community, volunteers have made contact with school teachers from the community who coordinated the event of Christmas Campaign. Donors to this Christmas Campaign and celebration of the true message of Christmas were students of the Pedro J. Sossa and Jerónimo de la Ossa Schools and merchants of the area. All work was conducted as part of the commitment of volunteers.

video 2: Students, with voluntary desire to participate in the Christmas season, have been making donations of toys and sending Christmas greetings to their children benefit. Collaborated enthusiastically not only to give a toy, but that this sends the message that although not personally know the child will feel the joy of receiving a gift from someone who is far away, are encouraged to smile at this time where many families lack the resources to provide this opportunity for these children.  This is where we share the message of love of God, who came to earth becoming like a little baby in the middle of humility and simplicity to offer hope.

The dynamics and streamline training tasks of teaching and learning process and emphasize Christian values in everyday life. As said Porfirio Franco, Project JOEL coordinator, “In an interactive way students assimilate much better the message when they interact with each other, specific values, such as forgiveness, and overcome any situation they have experienced.”

Teachers encourage young people to make them part of the talks, inviting their peers to learn about a particular message or share experiences where forgiveness was expressed. Thus we see how various techniques can encourage the young to want to participate, thus allowing a greater willingness to learn.

In Panama, the month of November is called the “Month of the Mother Country” because in this month people commemorate various important dates related to the transition ofPanama to an independent country. These includeIndependence fromSpain, the creation of national symbols and the Separation of Colombia. All these celebrations allow us to participate in many activities, as having a significant Christian presence in public events; it becomes a great opportunity to proclaim Christ through the witness and action.
